Bug What EXACTLY is Cox "TV Economy" package??
Does anyone know EXACTLY what channels are offered in Cox "TV Economy"? Theres a sale thru the end of the year, but not a real clear defination (in my opinion) of which channels you get. I have "TV Starter" but this is $15 more and says it has the music channels more tv channels than "starter", but I dont see a channel list. They have a blurb that says, channels SUCH AS (see below) but are they saying that is all you get? Or are there others and its a surprise?

Excerpt from their website (which is hard to find...) with my emphasis:
Watch the channels with the most popular programs, featuring your favorite shows from local channels like ABC, NBC, FOX, PBS, CW and more. Plus, Cox TV Economy has the cable channels everybody's watching
Top shows from some of your family’s favorite channels such as Cartoon Network, Discovery, USA, AMC, CNN, and E!

Says the price includes the digital cable box rental or cable card, yet also says you dont need them!? Do they even read the stuff they write?

It says "A Cox digital receiver is reflected in advertised retail price. Other equipment options available and prices may vary." This is because the FCC has mandated a price rebate for CableCARD customers if a STB rental was included in the price of the package.

OK, that makes sense as you are allowed to select different options if you try to order this online. I need to walk into a store and ask which channels you get. I know if I ask in email I will get another bad response that doesn't answer my question.Undecided

I learned long ago that using the on-site support "email" is only good for a chuckle. "I am sorry you are having difficulties..." and the closest thing they can find on their cheat sheet. Outsourced email support. How quaint.

I doubt any CSR knows what channels are in that new package yet. It's quite new.

Well, not exactly, but...

http://www.deadline.com/2012/01/cox-scra...cost-tier/

"Although pricing and options will vary slightly by market, the discounted service typically will include a mix of standard definition and HD versions of local broadcasters, shopping channels, C-SPAN, and superstations (WGN and TBS) in addition to a lineup with AMC, Animal Planet, BET, Cartoon Network, CNN, Comedy Central, Discovery, Disney Channel, E!, Food, Fox News, Galavision, History Channel, Lifetime, MSNBC, Nickelodeon, TV Guide, TruTV, The Weather Channel, TV Land, and USA. In order to keep costs down, it won’t have ABC Family, A&E, Bravo, CNBC, ESPN, ESPN2, FX, HGTV, HLN, MTV, regional sports, SyFy, Speed, Spike, TNT, TLC, The Travel Channel, and VH1."

I just signed up for the TV Economy package with a TIVO HD box and cable card. They even let me do a self-install for the cable card and tuning adapter. I get all the channels listed above except for TBS.

I wish Cox would update their website to show what's in the TV Economy package? How does it work? How does it allow the subscriber to get some of the channels in the Expanded package? Frequency filters to block out the more expensive channels? Converter box (ugh) needed?

RE: What EXACTLY is Cox "TV Economy" package??
Looks like TV Economy is a step up from the most basic package, but less than the full expanded package.
Note the lack of sports channels like ESPN.

TV Economy includes all Cox TV Starter and Digital Starter channels. Watch local channels like ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS, CW and more. Cox TV Economy also includes shopping channels like QVC and HSN, and other favorites like CSPAN, WGN, and Faith and Values channel

additional channels
AMC
Animal Planet
BET
Cartoon Network
CNN
Comedy Central
Discovery
Disney Channel
E!
Food Network
Fox News
FX
Galavision
History Channel
Lifetime
MSNBC
National Geographic
Nickelodeon
TCM
TruTV
TV Guide
TV Land
USA
The Weather Channel
