AT&T-DirecTV merger approved by DOJ

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/07/02/tech-five-att/29608815/

Looks like the DOJ has approved the DirecTV-AT&T merger. All this merger has to go through is the FCC, and that could happen anyday; however, FCC can impose conditions that the DOJ did not put in, as the FCC might want to make sure AT&T is responding to the needs of Americans and not shareholders.

Edit: Looks like it is tentatively approved, but it is likely to be approved. If this merger goes through, then I could see Charter-TWC likely being approved.

Looks like the FCC has formally approved the merger between AT&T and DirecTV, albeit with weak conditions. AT&T has to fairly enforce their usage caps, and they are required to launch fiber services to 12.5 million customers. Also, AT&T will voluntarily offer 1.5 mbps and 5 mbps tiers to low income residents who qualify for SNAP or TANF. Looks like the deal is in the public interest. AT&T wants to use the DirecTV platform for TV services going forward.

So, now will AT&T customers get access to "Sunday Ticket" ??

I would say so, as AT&T wanted DirecTV to get the sunday ticket rights, or else they would not merge with them.
