Another option is that TWC buys Charter, as per a Bloomberg article, TWC could buy Charter at a higher price and not have to worry about raising debt or equity capital. I am sure TWC could let Malone be the largest Shareholder, and maybe TWC could also buy Brighthouse and/or Cablevision in NYC to make a powerhouse cableco. With TWC buying Charter instead of Charter merging with TWC, TWC could keep their brand name as I think that brand has more equity than Charter. Charter customers would also get access to TWC's internet apps which Charter probably wants TWC, as they would not have to develop it themselves. Also, Charter has a downloadable security system that TWC could leverage as a successor to CableCARD and what not. Lots of positive reasons, and maybe I do prefer Charter to TWC as Charter does not seem to cap as compared to Comcasts which could start offering metered billing, to further rip off the consumer. Either way, consumers get screwed no matter what happens.
